An offline map area, also known as a preplanned map area, is an area in a web map used to create an offline map. It is defined by the owner of the web map in the portal and then packaged into an offline map. The offline map can be downloaded and used in ArcGIS Field Maps, ArcGIS Survey123, and offline applications built with ArcGIS Maps SDKs for Native Apps. The map areas may also include feature layers, tile layers, and vector tile layers. Feature layers in the map are bundled into mobile geodatabase files (.geodatabase
), tile layers into tile packages (.tpk
or .tpkx
), and vector tile layers into vector tile packages (.vtpk
).
