secure resource

A secure resource is any item or service hosted in ArcGIS that requires an ArcGIS account and authentication to access. Some examples of secure resources include:

  • Items and data services with their sharing level set to private, group, or organization.
  • ArcGIS Location services.
  • An ArcGIS portal service.
  • The spatial analysis service.
  • Tools such as ArcGIS pro, a portal, and the developer dashboard.

Secure resources can be accessed by making a request to their service URL with an access token that has privileges to access the resource.
