Remarks
This is useful to overlay data in multiple layers that lie within different temporal extents. For example, to compare data in one layer for a certain year with data in the same layer from the subsequent year, this can be done by creating two layers that reference the same data endpoint and setting the time offset in one of the layers to one year.
