Feature

AMD: require(["esri/widgets/Feature"], (Feature) => { /* code goes here */ });
ESM: import Feature from "@arcgis/core/widgets/Feature.js";
Class: esri/widgets/Feature
Inheritance: Feature Widget Accessor
Since: ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript 4.7

The Feature widget displays a graphic according to its PopupTemplate. This widget is useful in instances where you want to display information about a feature but without the use of a Popup.

If wanting to show a feature's content with actions, related records, or clustering configuration, etc., then use the Features widget.

When Arcade expressions that use $map or geometry functions are defined in any popup template content or as expression elements, the map and spatialReference properties need to be defined in the Feature widget.

For information about gaining full control of widget styles, see the Styling topic.

Example
// Create graphic
let graphic = new Graphic({
  geometry: view.center,
  popupTemplate: {
    content: [{
      // add popupTemplate content
    }]
  }
});

// map and spatialReference must be set for Arcade
// expressions to execute and display content
let feature = new Feature({
  graphic: graphic,
  map: map,
  spatialReference: spatialReference
});

view.ui.add(feature, "top-right");

Property Details

container

Inherited
Property
container String |HTMLElement
Inherited from Widget

The ID or node representing the DOM element containing the widget. This property can only be set once. The following examples are all valid use case when working with widgets.

Examples
// Create the HTML div element programmatically at runtime and set to the widget's container
const basemapGallery = new BasemapGallery({
  view: view,
  container: document.createElement("div")
});

// Add the widget to the top-right corner of the view
view.ui.add(basemapGallery, {
  position: "top-right"
});
// Specify an already-defined HTML div element in the widget's container

const basemapGallery = new BasemapGallery({
  view: view,
  container: basemapGalleryDiv
});

// Add the widget to the top-right corner of the view
view.ui.add(basemapGallery, {
  position: "top-right"
});

// HTML markup
<body>
  <div id="viewDiv"></div>
  <div id="basemapGalleryDiv"></div>
</body>
// Specify the widget while adding to the view's UI
const basemapGallery = new BasemapGallery({
  view: view
});

// Add the widget to the top-right corner of the view
view.ui.add(basemapGallery, {
  position: "top-right"
});

declaredClass

Inherited
Property
declaredClass Stringreadonly
Inherited from Accessor

The name of the class. The declared class name is formatted as esri.folder.className.

defaultPopupTemplateEnabled

Property
defaultPopupTemplateEnabled Boolean
Since: ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript 4.11 Feature since 4.7, defaultPopupTemplateEnabled added at 4.11.

Enables automatic creation of a popup template for layers that have popups enabled but no popupTemplate defined. Automatic popup templates are supported for layers that support the createPopupTemplate method. (Supported for FeatureLayer, GeoJSONLayer, SceneLayer, CSVLayer, OGCFeatureLayer PointCloudLayer, StreamLayer, and ImageryLayer).

Starting with version 4.28, date fields are formatted using the short-date-short-time preset dateFormat rather than long-month-day-year in default popup templates created by setting the defaultPopupTemplateEnabled property to true. For example, previously a date that may have appeared as "December 30, 1997" will now appear as "12/30/1997 6:00 PM".

Default Value:false

graphic

Property
graphic Graphic

The Graphic used to represent the feature.

Default Value:null

  },
  symbol: new SimpleMarkerSymbol({
    style: "square",

  }
});

Indicates the heading level to use for the title of the feature widget. By default, the title is rendered as a level 2 heading (e.g. <h2>Title of content</h2>). Depending on the widget's placement in your app, you may need to adjust this heading for proper semantics. This is important for meeting accessibility standards.

Default Value:2

map

Property
map Map
Since: ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript 4.11 Feature since 4.7, map added at 4.11.

A map is required when the input graphic has a popupTemplate that contains Arcade expressions in ExpressionInfo or ExpressionContent that may use the $map profile variable to access data from layers within a map. Without a map, expressions that use $map will throw an error.

Alternatively, the view property can be used to provide the map instance for this property.

Default Value:null
See also

timeZone

Property
timeZone String
Since: ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript 4.29 Feature since 4.7, timeZone added at 4.29.

Dates and times displayed in the widget will be displayed in this time zone. By default this time zone is inherited from MapView.timeZone. When a MapView is not associated with the widget then the property will fallback to the system time zone.

Possible Values

Value Description
system Dates and times will be displayed in the timezone of the device or browser.
unknown Dates and time are not adjusted for any timezone.

If false, the widget will no longer be rendered in the web document. This may affect the layout of other elements or widgets in the document. For example, if this widget is the first of three widgets associated to the upper right hand corner of the view UI, then the other widgets will reposition when this widget is made invisible. For more information, refer to the css display value of "none".

Default Value:true
Example
// Hides the widget in the view
widget.visible = false;
